• OR must hold a Ph.D. degree awarded as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, with the thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners, an open Ph.D. viva-voce conducted, and at least two research papers published from the Ph.D. work (minimum one in a refereed journal), plus at least two conference presentations based on the Ph.D. work at UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored events
• OR a Ph.D. from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Rankings by QS, THE or ARWU, at any point in time
