Overview
Chhattisgarh Karamchari Chayan Mandal (CGSSB), formerly known as Vyapam, has released the notification for the Chhattisgarh State Eligibility Test 2026 under Notification No. S.S.B./Pariksha F-20/2026/3150. CG SET determines eligibility for appointment as Assistant Professor in Chhattisgarh and is conducted under the Directorate of Higher Education. Applications opened on 23 July 2026 and close on 17 August 2026 at 5:00 PM, with the examination provisionally set for Sunday 4 October 2026. The test runs offline in OMR format across two papers on the same day. Paper I is compulsory for every candidate, carries 50 questions for 100 marks, and runs from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM, testing teaching aptitude, research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Paper II is subject-specific with 100 questions for 200 marks, running from 2:00 PM to 4:15 PM. Every question in both papers carries 2 marks and there is no negative marking in either paper. Qualification is decided on a percentile basis rather than a fixed cut-off. The top 6 per cent of candidates who appear in both papers and secure at least 40 per cent aggregate marks for General category, or 35 per cent for SC, ST, OBC non-creamy layer, PwD and transgender candidates, are declared eligible, following Chhattisgarh reservation policy. Because answer sheets are machine-evaluated by OMR, there is no rechecking or re-evaluation. CGSSB requires a one-time Profile Registration before applying, and candidates get a self-service correction window from 18 to 20 August 2026. The examination will be held at 10 district headquarters: Ambikapur, Baikunthpur, Bilaspur, Dhamtari, Durg, Jagdalpur, Kanker, Raigarh, Raipur and Rajnandgaon.
