CSIR ASO 2026 — Assistant Section Officer from UPSC CSE Candidates (100 Posts)

The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), under the Ministry of Science & Technology, has released the notification for 100 Assistant Section Officer (ASO) posts under the special recruitment drive for UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 non-recommended candidates. This scheme provides a prestigious Central Government Group-B Gazetted post at Pay Level-7 to graduates who appeared for UPSC CSE 2024 but were not finally recommended. The salary is equivalent to an SSC CGL Inspector post. This is a unique opportunity specifically designed for UPSC aspirants who cleared various stages of CSE 2024 but didn't make the final list. Selection is based on UPSC CSE 2024 marks and interview.

Bachelor's degree from a recognized university + must have appeared in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 and NOT been recommended (i.e., candidates who cleared Prelims/Mains but didn't get final selection in UPSC CSE 2024)

As per Central Govt norms; relaxation per rules

• Must have appeared in UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024.
• Must NOT have been recommended in the final selection of UPSC CSE 2024.
• Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
• Age as per Central Govt norms with relaxation.

As per notification

Pay Level-7, ₹44,900 – ₹1,42,400 + DA, HRA, TA (same as SSC CGL Inspector level)

1. Visit csir.res.in and open ASO Recruitment 2026 notification.
2. Register and fill the online application form.
3. Upload photo, signature, UPSC CSE 2024 admit card/scorecard, and documents.
4. Pay fee online and submit before 13 July 2026.
