Overview

CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is out — Cochin Shipyard Limited has invited online applications for 139 Graduate and Technician (Diploma) Apprentice training seats under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act, 1973. Is this notification out? Yes — released 12 August 2026, with online registration open from 12 August to 1 September 2026 via the national NATS portal, offering Kerala-domicile engineering and commercial practice graduates and diploma holders a structured one-year apprenticeship at one of India's foremost shipbuilding and defence PSUs. CSL, a listed Mini Ratna Schedule 'A' Company under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, is one of India's largest shipbuilding and ship repair yards, building major naval and commercial vessels including aircraft carriers, tankers, and bulk carriers, plus extensive ship repair operations. Apprentices are exposed to shipbuilding, marine engineering, and heavy industrial manufacturing not commonly available at smaller apprenticeship providers. The 139 seats split into two categories: Category I (Graduate, 61 seats) across 8 engineering disciplines, and Category II (Technician/Diploma, 78 seats) across 7 disciplines including Commercial Practice. CSL has clarified seat numbers may vary and it reserves the right not to fill all notified seats. Selection is purely merit-based on qualifying exam percentage; ties broken by year-of-passing seniority, then date of birth. Shortlisted candidates attend certificate verification with originals; provisional selection follows, subject to medical fitness. Stipend is ₹15,000/month (Graduate) and ₹13,000/month (Technician). Training runs one year. No travel/boarding/lodging provided, and completion does not entitle any employment claim with CSL — though the shipyard experience is valuable across the marine and heavy engineering sector. Applications go exclusively through the NATS portal, not CSL's own site. Old-portal users activate via "Forgot Password"; new candidates complete Student Registration first, then search "Cochin Shipyard Limited" under advertised vacancies. Call letters are sent by e-mail and posted on the CSL website only — not by post. Mark mismatches between application and mark sheet lead to summary rejection. False information cancels candidature at any stage. Legal jurisdiction is exclusively Ernakulam courts. Canvassing disqualifies; only Indian nationals are eligible.

Qualification

Category I — Graduate Apprentices: A Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University in the relevant discipline, or a Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an institution empowered to grant such a degree by an Act of Parliament, or a graduate examination of a professional body recognised by the State or Central Government as equivalent to the above. Eligible disciplines are Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology, Fire & Safety Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Naval Architecture & Shipbuilding. Category II — Technician (Diploma) Apprentices: For Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation Technology, Civil, and Computer Engineering disciplines, a Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a State Council/Board of Technical Education, a University, or an institution recognised by the State or Central Government as equivalent. For Commercial Practice, a Diploma in Commercial Practice granted by an institution recognised by the State or Central Government. Applicants for both categories must be domicile of Kerala and must have passed their qualifying examination during 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026. Candidates with a CGPA/OGPA/CPI instead of a percentage will have their grade point converted using the criteria defined by their University/Institute/Board. Candidates holding equivalent qualifications must submit an Equivalency Certificate. Candidates who have already undergone, or are currently undergoing, apprenticeship training under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 in any organisation are not eligible.

Age Limit
