Overview
Board of Secondary Education, Odisha (BSE Odisha) has released the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) 2026 notification under Notification No. 2198/Conf-I dated 01 August 2026. Passing OSSTET 2026 is a mandatory eligibility requirement for appointment as a teacher in Secondary Schools (Government/Government-Aided/Recognised Unaided) across Odisha, covering Category I (Education Teachers) and Category II (Physical Education Teacher). Candidates will appear for Paper-I (Category I) or Paper-II (Category II), each a 150-mark, 2-hour-30-minute objective test with no negative marking, covering Odia, English, stream-specific subjects, and Child Development, Pedagogy, School Management & Evaluation. The minimum qualifying mark is 45% for General category candidates and 35% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates in each paper. Successful candidates receive an OSSTET Pass Certificate valid until the applicable teacher recruitment age limit. The OSSTET 2026 online application is available at bseodisha.nic.in. Applications are open from 03 August 2026 to 17 August 2026 (midnight), with the exam scheduled for 30 September 2026. Application fee is ₹900 for General/OBC and ₹600 for SC/ST candidates. Candidates must read the complete official notification PDF before applying, as personal data, address, caste and subject details cannot be changed after submission.
Qualification
- Category I (Trained Graduate Arts): Bachelor's degree in Arts/Commerce/Shastri (Sanskrit) with two school subjects, 50% aggregate (45% for SC/ST/PH/SEBC) plus B.Ed. or equivalent
- Category I (Trained Graduate Science - PCM/CBZ): Bachelor's degree in Science/B.Tech/B.E. with two school subjects, 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories) plus B.Ed. or equivalent
- Category I (Hindi/Sanskrit/Urdu/Telugu Classical Teacher): Bachelor's degree with the respective language as Honours/Elective/Optional/Pass subject plus relevant B.Ed. qualification
- Category II (Physical Education Teacher): +2 or equivalent plus C.P.Ed./D.P.Ed./B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed. from a recognised Board/University
- All categories: ability to read and write Odia, as evidenced by qualifying examinations specified in the notification
Eligibility
- Indian citizen with the ability to read and write Odia, as evidenced by qualifying examinations specified in the notification
- Category I: relevant bachelor's degree with two school subjects (50%/45% aggregate) plus B.Ed. or equivalent teacher training qualification
- Category II: +2 or equivalent plus C.P.Ed./D.P.Ed./B.P.Ed./M.P.Ed.
- Candidates in the final year of training, or awaiting training exam results, are also eligible
- No fixed age limit — OSSTET is an eligibility test, not a recruitment with vacancies
- No restriction on number of attempts to acquire the OSSTET Pass Certificate

- Click "Click Here for New Registration" or log in if already registered
- Enter Name, Password, Mobile Number, e-Mail ID and Caste Category, then click Submit
- Log in again using the registered mobile number and password
- Enter the verification code sent to your registered mobile number and click Verify
- Pay the application fee online
- Fill the four sections of the application — Personal Information, Eligibility Criteria, Educational Qualification, and Declaration
- Upload all required certificates, documents and photographs in the specified format
- Review all filled information at the Declaration stage and tick the declaration box
- Click "YES – FINAL SUBMIT" and download the Acknowledgement Receipt — registration is incomplete without it
