RRC NER Scouts & Guides Quota Recruitment 2026 is out: the Railway Recruitment Cell, North Eastern Railway (RRC-NER), Gorakhpur, has released Employment Notice No. NER/RRC/SG/2026-27 dated 06 October 2026 for 11 posts under the Scouts & Guides Quota for 2026-27. There are 3 Group C posts at Level-2 (Grade Pay ₹1,900) and 8 erstwhile Group D posts at Level-1 (Grade Pay ₹1,800), spread across NER headquarters, Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) Varanasi, and the Izzatnagar, Lucknow and Varanasi divisions. This railway job 2026 is meant only for active Scouts and Guides holding President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalayan Wood Badge awards. Selected candidates will join Indian Railways in Group C and Level-1 roles at NER and BLW units in Uttar Pradesh, with all the benefits of a permanent railway job. Selection is out of 100 marks: a computer-based written test of 60 marks (40 objective questions plus one essay on scouting and general knowledge, with 1/3 negative marking on objectives and 40% qualifying marks) and 40 marks for scouting certificates. Five times the vacancies are called for document verification, followed by a railway medical exam. Pay is ₹19,900–₹63,200 at Level-2 and ₹18,000–₹56,900 at Level-1 under the 7th CPC, plus DA, HRA and railway passes. • Level-2 (Group C, Grade Pay ₹1,900): 12th pass or equivalent with 50% aggregate marks (50% not insisted for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen or candidates with higher qualifications), OR 10th pass plus ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in a relevant trade, OR 10th pass plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in a relevant trade.
• Level-1 (erstwhile Group D, Grade Pay ₹1,800): 10th pass, OR ITI or equivalent, OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from NCVT.
• Scouting qualification (both levels): President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder in any section.
• Must have been an active member of a Scouts organisation for the last 5 years, with a Certificate of Activeness in the prescribed Annexure-A format.
• Must have attended two National-level or All-India-Railway-level events AND two State-level events.
• Provisional President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or HWB certificates are allowed provisionally as per Railway Board letter dated 10.04.2024.
• All educational and scouting certificates must be issued on or before the closing date, 06.11.2026.
• Clerk-category appointees must acquire the prescribed typing proficiency within two years of appointment.

• Level-2 (Group C): 18 to 30 years as on 01.01.2027
• Level-1 (erstwhile Group D): 18 to 33 years as on 01.01.2027
• SC/ST: 5 years; OBC (NCL): 3 years; PwBD: 10 years (13 for OBC, 15 for SC/ST)
• Ex-Servicemen: service period plus 3 years (minimum 6 months' service after attestation)
• J&K domicile (01.01.1980–31.12.1989): 5 years
• Widows/divorced/judicially separated women: up to 35 (UR), 38 (OBC), 40 (SC/ST)
• Serving Railway staff, casual labour and substitutes with 3 years' service: up to 40 (UR), 43 (OBC), 45 (SC/ST)

• Level-2: 12th with 50% (relaxed for SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/higher qualified) or 10th + ITI/Act Apprenticeship in a relevant trade
• Level-1: 10th pass, ITI or NAC from NCVT
• President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalayan Wood Badge holder
• Active Scouts membership for the last 5 years, with Annexure-A Certificate of Activeness
• Participation in 2 National/All-India-Railway events and 2 State-level events
• Age as on 01.01.2027: 18–30 years (Level-2) and 18–33 years (Level-1), with category relaxations
• Separate application and fee needed to apply for both Level-1 and Level-2
• Minority and EBC candidates claiming reduced fee must submit Annexure-I/II declarations at document verification
• Free second-class journey pass for SC/ST candidates called for any stage
• Post nature: regular railway posts; empanelment in merit order of written test plus certificate marks

• SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBD / Women / Minorities / Economically Backward Classes: ₹250/- (fully refunded on appearing in the written exam)
