Overview
Uttar Pradesh Shiksha Seva Chayan Ayog (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has released Advertisement No. 06/2026 for direct recruitment of 2,607 Pravakta (PGT/Lecturer) posts across 26 subjects in government-aided secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh. UPESSC Pravakta Recruitment 2026 splits vacancies between boys' schools (2,329 posts) and girls' schools (278 posts), covering subjects from Hindi, English and Mathematics to Sanskrit, Home Science, Music and Agriculture. Candidates aged 21 to 62 years, holding a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject plus a B.Ed (or equivalent, subject-specific) qualification, can apply online at upessc.up.gov.in from 18 September 2026. Selected Pravaktas will teach senior secondary students in their subject at government-aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh, with school posting decided by the Director, Secondary Education, based on merit and candidate preference. The selection process is out of 400 total marks — a 360-mark written examination (120 objective-type questions, 2 hours, +3 for correct answers, -1 negative marking) followed by a 40-mark interview for shortlisted candidates, tentatively scheduled for 15-16 December 2026 (written exam). Salary for UPESSC Pravakta 2026 is Level-8 of the pay matrix, ₹47,600 to ₹1,51,100 per month. The UPESSC Pravakta Recruitment 2026 online registration (OTR) opened on 18 September 2026, with the fee payment deadline on 17 October 2026 and the correction window closing 21 October 2026. Candidates must complete One Time Registration on upessc.up.gov.in, fill the application in English, select one subject and one school-type (boys' or girls') per application, upload the required photo, signature and documents, and pay the fee online. Candidates must read the complete official notification PDF before applying, since qualification requirements differ for Music, Physical Education and Painting Arts subjects, and eligibility to teach in girls' or boys' schools also varies by gender and subject. Hindi leads the subject-wise count with 374 posts (336 boys' + 38 girls'), followed by Sanskrit (264), Geography (248), English (285), Chemistry (185), Physics (132), Civics (132), and Biology (130), with several niche subjects — Painting Arts, Music Vocal, and Agronomy — carrying fewer than 15 posts each. Category-wise, the combined vacancies total General 1,156, OBC 650, SC 583, and EWS 215, with no ST vacancies notified in this recruitment. Candidates should verify the exact subject-wise and category-wise figures for their chosen subject from Table-1 of the official notification, since fine-grained vacancy splits are prone to transcription variance in any summary.
