Overview
CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CMERI), a premier research laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has released notification for 27 Technician posts at its Durgapur (West Bengal) and Ludhiana (Punjab) centres. CSIR-CMERI conducts cutting-edge research in robotics, mechatronics, manufacturing technology, farm machinery, advanced materials, and renewable energy. Selected technicians will assist scientists in laboratory experiments, prototype development, testing, and equipment maintenance. This is a permanent Central Government position with 7th CPC pay, CGHS medical, and pension benefits. Selection through Trade Test / Written Examination and Interview.
Qualification
Technician-1 (Group III): 10th pass + ITI/NTC/NAC in relevant trade (Fitter, Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Machinist, Turner, Welder, Carpenter, COPA, Draughtsman Mechanical) from NCVT/SCVT recognized ITI. Technician (Diploma): 3-year Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Civil Engineering from recognized polytechnic.

Up to 28 years as on closing date; relaxation OBC +3, SC/ST +5, PwBD +10, Ex-SM as per rules
Eligibility
- Technician-1: 10th pass + ITI/NTC/NAC in relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT recognized institute.
- Technician (Diploma): 3-year Diploma in relevant Engineering from recognized polytechnic.
- Age up to 28 years (relaxation per Central Govt rules).
- Indian citizen.

Salary
Technician-1: Pay Level 2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200) + DA + HRA + allowances. Technician (Diploma): Pay Level 4 (₹25,500 – ₹81,100) + DA + HRA + allowances. CSIR employees also get additional benefits including HRA in metro cities, transport allowance, children education allowance, and medical (CGHS).
