Overview
Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a public sector bank under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has released the IOB Local Bank Officer (LBO) Recruitment 2026-27 notification under Advertisement No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27 for 250 vacancies in the JMGS-I (Junior Management Grade Scale I) cadre. This IOB bank job 2026 is unusual among current bank recruitment drives because it is strictly state-specific: candidates apply for exactly one of four states — Tamil Nadu (100 posts), Karnataka (50 posts), Maharashtra (50 posts), or Gujarat (50 posts) — and must demonstrate proficiency in that state's mandatory local language, either through prior schooling or a dedicated Language Proficiency Test. Selected Local Bank Officers will be posted only within the state they applied for, for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever comes first, making this a genuinely local-service-track role rather than an all-India transferable posting. The IOB LBO Recruitment 2026 selection process runs through a 200-mark, 3-hour Online Examination covering Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, Data Analysis and Interpretation, and English Knowledge, with a 0.25-mark penalty per wrong answer. This is followed by a Language Proficiency Test for candidates who need it, and a Personal Interview worth 100 marks, with the final merit list weighted 80:20 between the Online Examination and Interview scores. Starting basic pay is Rs. 48,480 in JMGS-I, rising on the standard officer increment scale, plus DA, HRA, CCA and other bank allowances as applicable. The online application for IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026 is available at www.iob.bank.in under the Careers section, and the last date to apply is 24 August 2026, for a window that opened on 8 August 2026. Application fee is Rs. 850 for General/EWS/OBC candidates and Rs. 175 for SC/ST/PwBD. Candidates already working in a Government, Quasi-Government, or PSU role must submit a No Objection Certificate at the time of Personal Interview, and Ration Cards or Learner Driving Licences are not accepted as valid photo ID proof at any stage. Candidates must read the complete official IOB LBO 2026 notification PDF before applying, since only one state application is permitted per candidate, and multiple applications for the same state will only count the last one submitted.
