JKSET LASET 2026 — J&K & Ladakh State Eligibility Test, Apply Online 24 Jul–20 Aug (J&K / Ladakh)

The University of Kashmir, acting as the Nodal Agency for the J&K State Eligibility Test Agency, has officially released the notification for the Jammu & Kashmir State Eligibility Test / Ladakh State Eligibility Test (JKSET/LASET) 2026 under Notification No. KU/JKSET-LASET/01/2026 issued on 17 July 2026. This eligibility test determines the qualification of candidates for appointment as Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir (JKSET) and Union Territory of Ladakh (LASET), and also grants eligibility for Ph.D. admission. Online applications open from 24 July 2026 and close on 20 August 2026, with the examination scheduled on 25 October 2026. JKSET/LASET 2026 will be conducted in 41 subjects at three examination centres — Jammu, Srinagar, and Leh. The test consists of two objective-type MCQ papers: Paper I assesses general teaching and research aptitude (50 questions, 100 marks), and Paper II covers subject-specific knowledge (100 questions, 200 marks). There is no negative marking. Candidates with at least 55% in their Master's Degree, or final-year PG students, are eligible. Qualified candidates receive a certificate valid for appointment as Assistant Professor across J&K and Ladakh institutions. Online applications must be submitted through the official portal at set.uok.edu.in or kashmiruniversity.net. The last date to apply for JKSET/LASET 2026 is 20 August 2026. Candidates should apply well before the last date to avoid server congestion. No hard copies of the application form are required to be submitted to the agency prior to the examination.

Master's Degree or equivalent from a UGC-recognised university with minimum 55% marks (without rounding off). Relaxation of 5% (50% total) for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender categories. Candidates appearing in final year/semester of Master's degree may also apply provisionally.

No age limit for JKSET/LASET 2026.

JKSET is an eligibility test, not a direct recruitment. Qualified candidates become eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor in universities and colleges of UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh as per UGC/Government pay norms. Pay scale governed separately by recruiting institutions.
