Overview
The Office of the District Commissioner, Kamrup, Amingaon, Land Revenue Branch, Government of Assam, has advertised 55 Gaon Pradhan posts under Advertisement No. E-117845, RM-16/4/2024-KRM/127 dated 20 July 2026. The vacancies are spread across 11 Revenue Circles of Kamrup district and carry a monthly remuneration of ₹14,000. Applications are offline only and must be submitted by 20 August 2026 during office hours. The circle-wise split is Boko 8, Palashbari 8, Kamalpur 7, Rangia 7, North Guwahati 6, Kayan 4, Hajo 4, Chhaygaon 4, Goroimari 4, Nagarbera 2 and Chamaria 1. Every vacancy is tied to a named village or lot within a specific Mouza, and applicants must state the village they are applying for on the form. Qualification is only HSLC pass, but the eligibility conditions attached to this Assam government job are unusually restrictive and rule out most applicants regardless of education. A candidate must be at least 30 years old as on 1 January 2026, must be a permanent resident of the village applied for, and must own land or immovable property in their own name in that village, evidenced by a Jamabandi. They must not be a government employee, must not belong to any political party, must not be insolvent or a defaulter on government dues, and must furnish a Bakijai Clearance Certificate. Assam's small family norm applies under the notification of 19 July 2019, so candidates with more than two living children from single or multiple partners are ineligible and must file a self-affidavit confirming compliance. Preference goes to family members of the previous Gaon Pradhan and the Mouzadar's views are taken into account. Selection is by Viva Voce interview alone, with the highest scorer for each village appointed, and all appointments follow a police verification report.
