Overview

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have released the RRB JE, DMS & CMA Recruitment 2026 notification under CEN No. 04/2026 (JE/DMS), now revised to CEN No. 04/2026 (JE/DMS/CMA) following Corrigendum-1 dated 18 August 2026, for a total of 4,029 vacancies. This is an All India central government job 2026 opportunity spanning 21 Railway Recruitment Boards, covering Junior Engineer (across 37 discipline/department combinations), Depot Material Superintendent, and the newly added Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) post. Indian Railways is the world's 4th-largest railway network and India's single largest employer, and this recruitment strengthens its technical and engineering workforce nationwide. Candidates aged 18 to 33 years, holding a three-year Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent) in the relevant discipline for JE/DMS posts, or a B.Sc. with Physics and Chemistry for the CMA post, are eligible to apply online. Selected Junior Engineers and Depot Material Superintendents will work across Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Civil & Allied Engineering functions in their respective zones, while the newly added Chemical & Metallurgical Assistants will support laboratory testing and quality functions. The original CEN, published 13 August 2026, notified 3,993 posts, with a category-wise break-up of 1,699 UR, 624 SC, 363 ST, 913 OBC-NCL and 394 EWS, including 387 Ex-Servicemen and 193 backlog PwBD vacancies across Hearing Impaired, Locomotor Disability and Multiple Disabilities categories. Corrigendum-1 added 35 CMA vacancies across RRB Bengaluru (1), Bhopal (7), Chennai (15), Guwahati (4) and Patna (7), plus 1 additional JE/Electrical/TRS vacancy at RRB Secunderabad (raising its total from 110 to 111), bringing the revised grand total to 4,029. Beyond the new post itself, the corrigendum also introduced a new Medical Standard, B-2 (Distance Vision 6/9, 6/12; Near Vision Sn 0.6, 0.6; mandatory binocular vision test), added the CMA exam syllabus as Annexure-VIII (E), and clarified that DMS candidates choosing an alternate Exam Group must now select from groups other than the CMA Exam Group. The RRB JE/DMS/CMA 2026 selection process consists of a 1st Stage CBT, 2nd Stage CBT, Document Verification, and Medical Examination. Pay for all three posts, including the new CMA post, is Level 6 under the 7th Pay Commission, with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400 per month, plus DA, HRA, free railway pass, uniform allowance, and other railway-specific benefits. The RRB JE/DMS/CMA 2026 online application is available at rrbapply.gov.in, open from 14 August 2026 to 13 September 2026 (23:59 hrs). Application fee is ₹500 for General/OBC/EWS candidates (₹400 refundable on appearing for CBT-I) and ₹250 for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Female/Transgender/Minority/EBC candidates (fully refundable on appearing). Candidates must read the complete official RRB 2026 notification PDF, along with the official Corrigendum-1, before applying, as the corrigendum introduces an entirely new post category and eligibility route not present in the original notification.
