Overview
The Railway Recruitment Cell, Eastern Railway (RRC/ER), Kolkata has released the Scouts & Guides Quota Recruitment 2026-27 notification on 24 July 2026 for 15 posts across Level-2 (Group C) and Level-1 (Erstwhile Group D) under Indian Railways, India's single largest employer. The drive is reserved for candidates holding recognised Scouting or Guiding credentials, covering vacancies in Eastern Railway, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and Metro Railway. Of the 15 posts, 5 are in Level-2 and 10 in Level-1. Selected candidates will serve across Eastern Railway establishments. Selection runs in two stages: a written test of 60 marks (40 objective questions plus one essay on Scouting/Guiding and General Knowledge, minimum 40% to qualify), followed by 40 marks awarded on Scouts & Guides certificates, for a combined 100 marks. Candidates who clear both stages are called for a medical examination at a Railway Hospital in a 1:1 ratio of vacancies. Pay falls under 7th CPC Level 1 and Level 2, with the usual railway allowances and benefits. Qualification
- Level-2 (Group C): 12th (+2 stage) pass with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised Board (50% relaxed for SC/ST/ESM/PwBD and for candidates holding a higher UGC-recognised qualification); OR 10th pass plus NAC/ITI approved by NCVT
- Level-1 (Erstwhile Group D): 10th pass, OR ITI, OR equivalent, OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT
- Scouts/Guides qualification mandatory for both levels: President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalayan Wood Badge, 5 years' active membership with a Certificate of Activeness, plus participation in two National/All India Railway events and two State events
Age Limit
- Level-2 (Group C): 18 to 30 years
- Level-1 (Erstwhile Group D): 18 to 33 years
- Reckoned as on 01 January 2027
- OBC: 3 years relaxation; SC/ST: 5 years relaxation; PwBD: additional 10 years; Ex-servicemen and other categories as per Railway rules
Eligibility
- Level-2: 12th pass with 50% marks, or 10th pass with NCVT-approved NAC/ITI
- Level-1: 10th pass, or ITI, or NCVT-granted NAC
- Mandatory Scouts/Guides status: President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalayan Wood Badge holder
- Active Scout Organization member for the last 5 years with a Certificate of Activeness
- Participation in two National or All India Railway level events and two State level events
- Age 18 to 30 years (Level-2) or 18 to 33 years (Level-1) as on 01 January 2027

- Enter personal details — name, father's name, date of birth, community, email and mobile number — to receive a Registration Number and Password
- Log in using the Registration Number and Password received by email or SMS
- Fill in all mandatory fields of the application form accurately
- Upload your photograph (35mm x 45mm, 20-50 KB, JPG), signature and left thumb impression (50mm x 20mm, 10-40 KB, JPG) as specified
- Upload self-attested certificates for date of birth, education, category and Scouts & Guides achievements
- Pay the application fee online via Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card or UPI
- Review all details carefully, submit the form, and note the Unique Application Number generated
- Take two printouts of the completed application form for future recruitment stages
