Why SSC MTS is Special

SSC MTS is the easiest entry point into the central government. Unlike SSC CGL (which needs graduation) or SSC CHSL (which needs 12th pass), MTS requires only 10th pass. The exam difficulty is at Matriculation level — much simpler than other SSC exams. And the job comes with all central government benefits — 7th CPC salary, DA, HRA, medical, pension (NPS), LTC, and job security for life.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Matriculation (10th pass) from a recognized board. No higher qualification needed — even if you have a degree, you can still apply.

Age Limit: 18-25 years for MTS, 18-27 years for Havaldar. Relaxation: OBC +3, SC/ST +5, PwBD +10, Ex-Serviceman +3 (after deducting military service).

Nationality: Indian citizen.

Final Advice

SSC MTS is the easiest central government exam, but don't take it lightly — competition is fierce (30-40 lakh applicants for 5,000-10,000 posts). The key is accuracy, not speed. In a 40-question paper, attempting 35 with 90% accuracy is better than attempting 40 with 70% accuracy. Negative marking is harsh (1 mark per wrong answer on a 3-mark question), so avoid guessing.
