Botanical Survey of India JRF 2026 — 6 Posts, Apply by 09 August (All India)

The Botanical Survey of India (BSI), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has released BSI JRF Recruitment 2026 under Notification No. BSI-292/2/JRF-Rect./2026-Tech. for 6 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) posts in Botany on a purely temporary and contractual basis. BSI, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Kolkata, is the Government of India's apex organization for survey, research and conservation of the country's plant wealth, making these fellowships an excellent entry into a central government scientific research career. Eligibility for BSI JRF 2026 requires an M.Sc. in Botany from a UGC-recognized university with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks, with specialization in Plant Taxonomy or Plant Systematics desirable. The maximum age is 28 years as on the last date, with relaxation for reserved and female candidates. The fellowship pays Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month from the third year onwards plus HRA, and the engagement can run up to five years across JRF and SRF phases. Selection for BSI JRF Recruitment 2026 is through an offline multiple-choice written test followed by an online interview and document verification, with CSIR-JRF NET qualified candidates exempted from the written test. Candidates must pay the fee via Bharatkosh, then submit a hard copy by Registered Post to the Scientist-in-Charge, Technical Section, BSI-Hqrs., Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700064, a merged soft-copy PDF by email, and the mandatory online proforma via the Google Form on bsi.gov.in — all reaching on or before 09 August 2026.

8. Fill and submit the mandatory online application proforma via the Google Form on bsi.gov.in
9. Ensure the hard copy, soft copy and online form all reach on or before 09 August 2026
10. Retain a copy of the submitted application and fee receipt for reference
