The vacancies are Scientist-D (Medical) 1, Scientist-D (Non-Medical) 1, Scientist-C (Medical) 1, Scientist-C (Medical, Microbiology) 1, Scientist-B (Medical) 2, Scientist-B (Non-Medical, Disease Modelling) 1 and Scientist-B (Veterinary) 1. This central government research job 2026 is open to MBBS, biomedical science, Pharm-D and veterinary graduates. ICMR-NIE is India's premier institute for field epidemiology, disease surveillance and public health research, and selected scientists will design studies, analyse disease data, model outbreaks and support national health programmes from Chennai, with all-India transfer liability. Selection is through a computer-based test on research methods with a 75-percentile qualifying cut-off, an interview, or both. • Scientist-B/C/D (Medical): MBBS or equivalent recognised by NMC/MCI; MD/MS, MPH or Ph.D. in biomedical sciences desirable for Scientist-C and D.
• Scientist-D (Non-Medical) and Scientist-B (Non-Medical, Disease Modelling): Master's degree in a biomedical science subject or Pharm-D recognised by UGC/PCI; Ph.D. desirable for Scientist-D.
• Scientist-B (Veterinary): B.V.Sc & AH recognised by the Veterinary Council of India.
• Scientist-C (Medical, Microbiology): MBBS or equivalent recognised by NMC/MCI, with the Microbiology specialisation and experience specified in the advertisement.
• Experience: Ph.D. counts as 4 years and MD/MS as 3 years of experience; MPH and M.Tech are not counted as experience.
• R&D experience in biomedical sciences in government, public sector or recognised private institutions is admissible; per-post experience as specified in the advertisement.
• Eligibility is reckoned as on the last date of application, 26.11.2026.

• Scientist-D: not exceeding 45 years
• Scientist-C: not exceeding 40 years
• Scientist-B: not exceeding 35 years
• Relaxation as per Government of India rules; further relaxation for exceptionally meritorious candidates with approval of DG, ICMR
