CSIR CECRI Apprentice 2026 — 27 Posts, Walk-in 10 August (Tamil Nadu)

CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), Karaikudi has issued Advertisement No. APP-08/2026 for the engagement of 27 Apprentice Trainees across ITI, Diploma and Graduate categories under the Apprentices Act, 1961. CSIR-CECRI was founded at Karaikudi in July 1948 and is the country's premier national laboratory for electrochemistry, working on batteries, corrosion science, electroplating and industrial electrochemical processes under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. This is a walk-in engagement, so there is no online application window to miss and no form to post. Apprentices are trained for one year inside a working national research laboratory, gaining exposure to electrochemical process work, laboratory instrumentation and workshop practice depending on the trade engaged. Selection is made on the basis of academic qualification together with performance at the walk-in interview held at the CSIR-CECRI campus in Karaikudi. The monthly stipend is ₹11,040 for ITI Apprentices in most trades and ₹10,560 for the Glass Former and Processor trades. Two eligibility conditions catch candidates out regularly and should be checked before travelling: applicants must have passed their qualifying examination in 2022 or later, and anyone who has accumulated a year or more of work experience after obtaining that qualification is disqualified. ITI Apprentices — ITI pass in the relevant designated trade, except for Glass Former and Processor where a pass in 8th standard is the requirement. Technician (Diploma) Apprentices — Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, or Electronics and Communication Engineering. Graduate Apprentices — BE or BTech in Civil Engineering, or a Bachelor's degree in any non-engineering discipline. Candidates must have passed in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026. Candidates holding one year or more of work experience acquired after the essential qualification are not eligible.

Monthly stipend of ₹11,040 for ITI Apprentices in all trades other than Glass Former and Processor, and ₹10,560 for Glass Former and Processor trades, paid as per Apprentices Act rules. Stipend rates for Technician and Graduate Apprentices are as notified under the Apprentices Act, 1961. The engagement is a one-year training programme and CSIR-CECRI carries no obligation to offer regular employment on completion.

8. Attend the walk-in interview on 10 August 2026 at CSIR-CECRI, Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu
9. Report at the venue by the reporting time stated in the notification, as late entry is not permitted at CSIR walk-ins
