India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 — 23,757 Posts, Apply Online by 21 Sep (All India)

The Department of Posts (India Post), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has released the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July-2026 notification vide Notification No. 17-12/2026-GDS, dated 20 August 2026, for 23,757 vacancies of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak in different offices of the Department of Posts across various Circles and Divisions in India. Candidates who have passed the Secondary School Examination (Class 10) with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognised board, and who have studied the prescribed local language up to 10th standard, are eligible to apply for this India Post GDS 2026 sarkari naukri opportunity. • Secondary School Examination (SSE)/10th standard pass certificate, with passing marks in Mathematics and English, from a Board recognized by the Government of India/State Governments/Union Territories
• Must have studied the local language (as prescribed post-wise for each Circle in Annexure-III of the notification) at least up to 10th standard from a recognized board; special provisions apply for Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, and Nagaland
• Knowledge of computers; knowledge of cycling; and adequate means of livelihood besides the GDS allowances (submitted as undertakings at the time of engagement)
• Past experience or service of any kind is not considered for selection

• Minimum age: 18 years; Maximum age: 40 years, as on the last date of application submission
• Age relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC — 3 years; EWS — No relaxation; PwBD — 10 years; PwBD+OBC — 13 years; PwBD+SC/ST — 15 years

• 10th standard (SSE) pass with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognized board; equivalent qualifications from any other board are not eligible
• Must have studied the prescribed local language (Circle/post-wise, per Annexure-III) up to 10th standard; special provisions for Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim, and Nagaland
• Knowledge of Computers and Cycling required; adequate means of livelihood besides GDS allowances (self-declared)
• Age between 18 and 40 years, as on the last date of application submission
• Candidates dismissed/removed/compulsorily retired from Government service/GDS in the past as a penalty are barred from applying
• No person holding an elective office will be considered for engagement

• ₹100/- for all posts notified in the candidate's choice of Division, payable online via Credit/Debit card, Net Banking, or UPI
• Fee-exempted: All female applicants, SC/ST applicants, PwBD applicants, and Transwomen applicants
• Fee, once paid, is non-refundable

• Branch Postmaster (BPM): TRCA ₹12,000/- to ₹29,380/- per month
• Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak: TRCA ₹10,000/- to ₹24,470/- per month
• TRCA carries an annual increase of 3% (subject to fulfilment of GDS Rules conditions), plus Dearness Allowance, GDS Gratuity, and the Service Discharge Benefit Scheme

1. Visit the GDS Online Engagement Portal at indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement
2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) using a valid mobile number and email ID (verified via OTP), entering personal details and Class 10 board/year of passing information
3. Log in using the Registration Number and password received via SMS, then click "Apply Online" under the "Active Notification" tab
4. Fill in Personal Details, Board/Educational Details (Circle, Board Name, passing year, marks obtained), and select Division and post preferences based on eligible vacancies
5. Upload a recent photograph (JPG/JPEG, 30-100 KB, 320×400 px) and signature (JPG/JPEG, 20-100 KB, 300×120 px) as per prescribed specifications
6. Preview the application and make any corrections before final submission
7. Pay the applicable fee (if not exempted) through the available online payment modes within 10 minutes of initiating payment
8. Submit the application on or before the last date, 21 September 2026, up to 1700 hrs
9. Use the two-day edit/correction window (23-24 September 2026) if any corrections are needed
10. Retain the registration number and application printout for future reference
