National Centre for Polar & Ocean Research (NCPOR) has released NCPOR Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026 under Advt No. NCPOR/2026/07 for 4 posts. NCPOR is India's premier autonomous research institute under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, coordinating the country's polar, Antarctic, Arctic, and Southern Ocean research programmes from its headquarters in Goa. This drive is aimed at candidates with a Master's degree in Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, Oceanography, Marine Chemistry, or related fields, along with a valid CSIR-UGC NET, GATE qualification, or Ph.D., who want to work on marine geological, oceanographic, and chemical oceanography research projects. Selected Junior Research Fellows will support NCPOR's ongoing research in marine geological/geophysical data analysis, oceanographic and atmospheric data analysis and numerical modelling, or chemical oceanography and marine chemistry, depending on the specific JRF discipline. The selection process for NCPOR Junior Research Fellow 2026 is entirely through a Walk-in Interview, or an Online Interview for candidates unable to attend in person — there is no separate written examination. The salary for NCPOR Junior Research Fellow 2026 is ₹37,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance, on a temporary appointment basis. Qualification
- JRF (Geophysics/Marine Geophysics stream): Master's degree in Geophysics/Marine Geophysics/Applied Geology/Applied Geophysics or equivalent, along with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant subject with at least 60% marks; CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship)/Ph.D. or GATE qualified; work/research experience in marine geological/geophysical data analysis is desirable, along with programming experience in Fortran/Python/C++/MATLAB
- JRF (Marine Science/Oceanography stream): Master's degree in Marine Science/Oceanography/Physical Oceanography/Atmospheric Science or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant subject with at least 60% marks; CSIR-UGC NET/Ph.D. or GATE qualified; experience in oceanographic and atmospheric data analysis and numerical modelling is desirable, along with programming in MATLAB/Python/FERRET
- JRF (Chemistry/Marine Chemistry stream): Master's degree in Chemistry/Marine Chemistry/Chemical Oceanography/Marine Sciences/Hydrochemistry/Environmental Sciences or equivalent, or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant subject with at least 60% marks; CSIR-UGC NET/Ph.D. or GATE qualified; hands-on experience in seawater sample preparation and chemical composition analysis, including nutrients, dissolved trace gases, and trace metals, is desirable

- JRF (Chemistry/Marine Chemistry stream): Master's/Bachelor's Engineering degree in relevant subject (60%+), CSIR-UGC NET/Ph.D./GATE qualified; seawater sample analysis experience (nutrients, trace gases, trace metals) desirable
- Age: Maximum 28 years, with relaxation for OBC candidates as per Government of India norms
