Overview
The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has released Advertisement No. PGI/RC/053/2026/2192, dated 1 September 2026, inviting online applications for 60 posts in total — 57 Group "C" posts at PGIMER Chandigarh (Library Attendant Grade-I, Animal Attendant, Barber, and Multi Tasking Staff Sanitation Grade-III) and 3 posts of Group "A", "B" & "C" for the PGI Satellite Centre, Sangrur, Punjab (Medical Officer, Computer Programmer, and Pharmacist Grade-II). Eligibility ranges from Matriculation to a medical/postgraduate qualification depending on the post. Selected candidates at PGIMER Chandigarh will be placed in various Group C support roles, while the three Sangrur posts cover a Medical Officer (Group A), Computer Programmer (Group B), and Pharmacist Grade-II (Group C) position at the PGI Satellite Centre. Selection for all posts is through a Computer Based Test (CBT) held on an all-India basis in English only — 85 questions for Group A in 85 minutes, and 100 questions for Group B and C in 100 minutes, each question carrying 1 mark with 0.25 negative marking. Group A posts additionally carry a 15-mark interview, while Group B and C posts are selected on CBT merit alone, since the interview has been dispensed with for non-gazetted posts. Qualification
- Medical Officer: A medical qualification included in Schedule I/II or Part II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956; registration with the State Medical Council; special training in Family Planning & Educational methods; preference to a postgraduate degree/diploma in the relevant speciality
- Computer Programmer: Master's degree in Statistics/Mathematics (with Statistics)/Operation Research/Physics, or a degree in Engineering/Computer Science, plus 1 year's programming experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (with Statistics)/Physics/Statistics plus 7 years' computer operation experience including actual programming
- Pharmacist Grade-II: Matriculation + Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognised institution/board; must be a registered Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948
- Library Attendant Grade-I: Matric with Science; Diploma in Library Science; 1 year's experience handling books & journals in a library of repute
- Animal Attendant: Matriculation or equivalent; ability to read and write in Hindi/English/Punjabi; knowledge of cleaning & dusting
- Barber: Matriculation, with at least 2 years' experience in the line
- Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III: Matriculation or equivalent; knowledge of sweeping, dusting, and cleaning
Age Limit
- Medical Officer: 18–30 years
- Computer Programmer: 18–35 years
- Pharmacist Grade-II, Library Attendant Grade-I, Animal Attendant, Barber, Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III: 18–30 years
- Relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC — 3 years; PwBD — 10 years; PwBD+SC/ST — 15 years; PwBD+OBC — 13 years; Central Govt. Group C employees — up to 40/43/45 years by category; Ex-servicemen — actual military service plus 3 years. Reckoned as on the closing date, 19.10.2026
Eligibility

- Barber: At least 2 years' experience in the line
- Multi Tasking Staff (Sanitation) Grade-III: Desirable — 1 year's experience in sweeping/dusting/cleaning in a Civil/Military Hospital, good hostel, or government department
- Diplomas/degrees via Open and Distance Learning are accepted only if UGC-recognised for the relevant period

- Register using a valid personal email ID and mobile number, kept active throughout the process
- Fill in mandatory registration details — Advertisement No., Advertisement Date, Name (as per matriculation certificate), Date of Birth, Mobile No. & Email ID — carefully, as these cannot be changed once registered
- Log in with the User ID and password sent to your email/mobile, and complete the section-wise Application Form — personal information, qualifications, experience, and document uploads
- Upload a scanned photograph in JPG/JPEG format (50–80 KB), snapped on or after 1 June 2026
- Upload legible scanned copies of all required certificates — educational qualification from Matric onwards, date of birth, category certificate, experience certificates, NOC if applicable
- Submit the form and complete payment via Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card only — avoid UPI, as advised in the notification
- Take a printout of the submitted application form for your records
- Candidates already in government/semi-government/autonomous body employment must forward their application through proper channel within 10 days of the closing date
- Download and save the admit card when released, roughly one week before the CBT — it will not be sent by post
