Overview
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India, has released the notice for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination 2026, inviting online applications for Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO)/DEO Grade 'A' posts. Is SSC CHSL 2026 out? Yes — SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 offers approximately 2,536 tentative government job vacancies across various Ministries, Departments, and Offices of the Government of India, making it one of the largest 12th-pass-eligible Central Government recruitment drives of the year. Selected LDC/JSA and DEO candidates will be posted across various Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Offices throughout India, handling clerical, secretariat, and data-entry functions. Candidates who have passed Class 12 (or an equivalent examination) from a recognised board, aged 18 to 27 years as on 01 August 2026, are eligible to apply — with DEO posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, SSC, and Ministry of Culture specifically requiring Science stream with Mathematics. The selection process for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is a two-tier Computer Based Examination: Tier-I (objective, four subjects — English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness, 60 minutes) followed by Tier-II (four sections including Mathematical Abilities, English Language & Comprehension, a qualifying Computer Knowledge Test, and a Skill/Typing Test). The SSC CHSL 2026 salary ranges from Pay Level-2 (₹19,900–63,200) for LDC/JSA up to Pay Level-5 (₹29,200–92,300) for DEO posts, under the 7th Central Pay Commission structure. The SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 online application is available at ssc.gov.in, with the application window open from 07 September 2026 to 07 October 2026 (23:00 Hours).
