SSC JE Recruitment 2026 — 1,748 Posts, Apply Online 02-22 Sep (All India)

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for SSC JE Recruitment 2026, inviting online applications for the Junior Engineer (JE) Examination 2026. This notice covers Junior Engineer posts (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Telecom) across various Central Government organizations, along with the post of Scientific Assistant in the India Meteorological Department (IMD). A total of 1,748 tentative vacancies have been announced, spread across organizations including Border Roads Organisation, Brahmaputra Board, Central Water Commission, Central Public Works Department, Military Engineer Services, Department of Telecommunications, and IMD, among others. Selected candidates will be appointed to Group 'B' posts in Pay Level-6 of the Pay Matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a pay scale of ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400. The selection process consists of Paper-I (Computer Based Examination, qualifying in nature), Paper-II (Computer Based Examination), Document Verification, and for specific organizations such as Border Roads Organisation, Physical Standards and Medical Examination. Separate merit lists are prepared for JE (Civil), JE (Electrical & Mechanical), Scientific Assistant (IMD), and JE (Telecom). The SSC JE 2026 online application is open from 02 September 2026 to 22 September 2026 (23:00 hours). Application fee is ₹100 for General/UR/OBC/EWS male candidates, while Women, SC/ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted. • JE (Civil): Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institute, or a three-year diploma in Civil Engineering plus relevant work experience (requirement varies by organization)
• JE (Electrical)/JE (Mechanical)/JE (Electrical & Mechanical): Degree or diploma in the relevant Electrical/Mechanical/Automobile engineering discipline from a recognized university/institute, with experience required in some organizations
• JE (Telecom): Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in Electrical/Electronics/Electrical Communications/Computer Science/Telecommunications/Information Technology/Instrumentation
• Scientific Assistant (IMD): Bachelor's degree in Science with Physics as one of the subjects, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Applications/Electronics/Electronics & Communication Engineering/Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering/Instrumentation/Information Technology/Telecommunication Engineering/Communication Engineering

• Crucial date for reckoning age: 01-08-2026
• Posts with age limit up to 30 years: DOB not earlier than 02-08-1996 and not later than 01-08-2008
• Posts with age limit up to 32 years: DOB not earlier than 02-08-1994 and not later than 01-08-2008
• Age relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC — 3 years; PwBD (Unreserved/EWS) — 10 years; PwBD (OBC) — 13 years; PwBD (SC/ST) — 15 years; Ex-Servicemen — 3 years after deducting military service; Defence personnel disabled in operations (Unreserved/EWS/OBC) — 3 years, (SC/ST) — 8 years

• JE (Civil): Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institute, or a three-year diploma plus relevant experience, varying by organization
• JE (Electrical)/JE (Mechanical)/JE (Electrical & Mechanical): Degree or diploma in the relevant engineering discipline, with experience required in some organizations
• JE (Telecom): Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology in Electrical/Electronics/Electrical Communications/Computer Science/Telecommunications/Information Technology/Instrumentation
• Scientific Assistant (IMD): Bachelor's degree in Science with Physics, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Electronics or related disciplines
• Candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or specified East African countries with intention of permanently settling in India
• Qualifications obtained through Open and Distance Learning (ODL)/online mode in restricted disciplines such as Engineering are not accepted unless specifically permitted under applicable UGC regulations or judicial orders
• A candidate eligible for one post may also be eligible to apply for a related post — for example, JE Mechanical candidates are also eligible for JE Electrical & Mechanical, subject to fulfilling the essential qualification for that post

• General/UR/OBC/EWS (Male): ₹100
• Women/SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen: Exempted

• Group 'B' posts, Pay Level-6, Pay Matrix (7th CPC): ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400, plus applicable allowances (DA, HRA, TA) as per the rules of the respective recruiting organization

1. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the SSC website, ssc.gov.in — an OTR already generated on the old website (ssc.nic.in) is not valid on the new site
2. Log in and fill the online application form for the JE Examination 2026, via the SSC website or the "mySSC" mobile app
3. Upload photograph and signature, or opt for Aadhaar-based authentication, which exempts candidates from certain photo/signature format rejections
4. Select your organization, post, and relevant subject/stream as per your educational qualification — this choice cannot be changed later
5. Pay the application fee online, if applicable, using BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or a Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay debit card
6. Preview and submit the form, and save/print a copy for your records
7. Ensure the application reaches before the last date, since SSC has stated it will not be responsible for candidates unable to submit due to heavy website traffic near the deadline
8. Check the correction window dates if you need to edit your submitted form
9. Prepare for the Computer Based Examination Paper-I after successful submission
