UPSC Delhi Principal & Vice-Principal Recruitment 2026 — 828 Posts, Apply Online by 14 Aug (Delhi)

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released Special Advertisement No. 51/2026 on 21 July 2026 for 828 Principal and Vice-Principal posts under the Education Department, Government of NCT of Delhi — the largest Delhi school leadership recruitment drive in recent years. The 828 vacancies include 124 Principal posts at Pay Level-12 and 704 Vice-Principal posts at Pay Level-10 in Delhi government schools. Online applications open from 25 July 2026 and close on 14 August 2026 through the UPSC ORA portal. As of July 2026, only a short notice has been released — the detailed advertisement with full syllabus and category break-up is expected shortly on upsc.gov.in. Selected Principals under UPSC Delhi Recruitment 2026 will lead government schools in the NCT of Delhi as Group-A gazetted officers, responsible for academic administration, staff management and school governance. Vice-Principals will assist in academic leadership and administration. The UPSC Delhi Principal & Vice-Principal 2026 selection process consists of a Recruitment Test (if conducted) followed by a Personal Interview and Document Verification. The salary for Principal 2026 is approximately ₹1,32,000 to ₹1,38,000 per month in-hand at Level-12 with Delhi HRA, and for Vice-Principal approximately ₹96,000 to ₹1,02,000 per month at Level-10. Application fee is ₹25 for General/OBC/EWS male candidates and nil for SC/ST/PwBD and all female candidates. Principal (124 posts): Minimum 10 years' teaching experience as PGT or TGT in a recognised school. Vice-Principal (704 posts): Minimum 2 years' experience as PGT or 3 years' experience as TGT in a recognised school. Experience must be from recognised schools with valid certificates. Vice-Principal: Minimum 35 years | up to 35 years (UR/EWS) | up to 38 years (OBC) | up to 40 years (SC/ST) as on 14 August 2026. Principal: Pay Level-12 under 7th Pay Commission | Basic Pay ₹78,800 to ₹2,09,200 per month plus DA, HRA (30% X-city Delhi), Transport Allowance and other Central Govt allowances. Vice-Principal: Pay Level-10 | Basic Pay ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month plus DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and other Central Govt allowances. NPS (National Pension System) applicable for all new entrants.

2. Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the UPSC portal if not already registered
3. Log in and select Special Advertisement No. 51/2026 — choose Principal or Vice-Principal post as applicable
4. Download and read the detailed notification from upsc.gov.in carefully before filling the form
5. Fill the online application form with accurate personal, educational and experience details
6. Upload scanned photograph and signature in the format and dimensions specified on the UPSC portal
7. Upload supporting documents — Master's Degree certificate, B.Ed certificate, teaching experience certificates from recognised schools, category certificate if applicable
8. Pay the application fee of ₹25 online via the UPSC portal (SC/ST/PwBD and all female candidates are exempt)
9. Review all entered details carefully before final submission
10. Submit the application and save or print the confirmation receipt for future document verification reference
