Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission has released notification 04/2026 for 7,299 Assistant Acharya (Para Teacher) posts in government schools across the state. Online applications open on 31 July 2026 and close on 30 August 2026.

This is the largest teaching recruitment Jharkhand has announced this year, covering all 24 districts and four separate teaching cadres. Selection runs through the Jharkhand Trained Assistant Acharya Combined Competitive Examination, or JTAACCE 2026.

Why This Recruitment Matters

Two things make this drive unusual.

First, the scale. At 7,299 posts spread across 24 districts, this is one of the largest state teaching recruitments announced anywhere in India in 2026.

Second, the backlog component. Of the total, 1,198 posts are backlog vacancies — positions reserved for categories that went unfilled in earlier cycles. For candidates in those categories, backlog recruitment often means noticeably lower competition than the general pool.

The 6,101 regular vacancies split across four teaching cadres as follows:

An additional 1,198 backlog vacancies bring the grand total to 7,299.

Two patterns are worth reading here. The Intermediate Trained cadre for Classes 1–5 is the single largest at 1,909 posts, and it requires only 10+2 plus D.El.Ed rather than a full graduation. And ST candidates hold 1,800 of the 6,101 regular posts — close to 30 per cent, reflecting Jharkhand's reservation structure.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification by Post

Intermediate Trained Assistant Acharya (Classes 1 to 5)

Passed 10+2 (Intermediate) with the prescribed minimum marks, plus any one of:

• 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.)
• Diploma in Elementary Education (Special Education)
• 4-year B.El.Ed.
• Graduation with D.El.Ed.

Graduate Trained Assistant Acharya (Classes 6 to 8) — Language

Graduation in the concerned language subject, plus B.Ed., Integrated B.Ed. (B.A. B.Ed. or B.Sc. B.Ed.), or another NCTE-recognised teacher education qualification.

Graduate Trained Assistant Acharya (Classes 6 to 8) — Social Science

Graduation with Social Science or Humanities as prescribed in the notification, plus B.Ed. or Integrated B.Ed.

Graduate Trained Assistant Acharya (Classes 6 to 8) — Science & Mathematics

Graduation in Mathematics, Science or the relevant subject combination, plus B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed., or another recognised teacher education qualification.

The JTET/CTET Requirement — Read This Carefully

A valid JTET, CTET or another recognised Teacher Eligibility Test qualification is mandatory for every post in this recruitment. There is no exemption.

This is where most applications fail. A D.El.Ed or B.Ed alone does not make you eligible. If you have not cleared a Teacher Eligibility Test, you cannot apply, regardless of your degree.

Age Limit

Age is calculated as on 01 August 2026.

Application Fee

The fee is paid online and is non-refundable once submitted. Note that the reduced SC/ST fee applies only to candidates with Jharkhand domicile.

Selection Process

Selection runs through four stages:

1. Written Examination — the JTAACCE 2026, conducted by JSSC
2. Merit List — prepared purely on written exam marks
3. Document Verification — for shortlisted candidates
4. Final Appointment — subject to merit, eligibility, reservation rules and successful verification

There is no interview stage. Your written exam performance alone determines your position on the merit list.

Exam Pattern

The pattern differs by cadre.

Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5) — Three Papers

Graduate Trained Level (Classes 6 to 8) — Four Papers

The Paper 1 Trap

Paper 1 is Mother Tongue, and it is qualifying only. You must score at least 30 per cent in it. If you do not, your remaining papers are not evaluated at all.

Marks from Paper 1 do not count toward your final merit position. So it carries zero upside and total downside — score 30 per cent and move on, but do not neglect it, because failing it invalidates an otherwise strong performance across every other paper.

Each paper is conducted in a separate shift.

Paper 3 Composition (Primary Level)

Paper 3 at the primary level breaks down as:

• General Knowledge & Current Affairs — 50 marks
• Social Science — 75 marks
• Science & Mathematics — 75 marks

Salary Structure

Both come with Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other Government of Jharkhand allowances on top of basic pay.

Districts Covered

Vacancies are distributed district-wise across all 24 districts of Jharkhand:

Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Deoghar, Dumka, Hazaribagh, Palamu, Giridih, Gumla, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, Chatra, Godda, Koderma, Latehar, Lohardaga, Pakur, Ramgarh, Khunti, Jamtara, Simdega, Garhwa and Sahibganj.

Choose your district carefully at the application stage. Cut-offs vary substantially between districts, and a candidate who would miss the cut in Ranchi may comfortably clear it in a district with fewer applicants relative to posts.

Can You Apply for More Than One Post?

Yes. The official notification permits candidates to apply for more than one post, subject to the conditions specified in it. If you meet the eligibility for both a language cadre and a subject cadre, applying to both widens your chances — but read the conditions in the notification PDF before assuming your combination qualifies.

Preparation Strategy

Start with Paper 3 or Paper 4. These carry the merit weight — 200 marks at primary level, 180 at graduate level. This is where selection is actually decided.

Do not ignore the Scheduled Language paper. Paper 2 counts fully toward merit at 100 marks and is frequently underprepared. Candidates who pick a regional or tribal language they are genuinely fluent in gain an easy scoring advantage over those who choose one they half-know.

Clear Paper 1 comfortably, then forget it. Thirty per cent is the bar. Practise enough to be certain of clearing it, then redirect your time.

Track your district's numbers. With vacancies published district-wise and category-wise, you can estimate your competition far more precisely than in most state exams. Use that.

You have five weeks before applications even open. Use the window before 31 July to confirm your JTET/CTET certificate is valid and accessible, and to gather your documents — not to scramble at the deadline.
