Overview
Cordite Factory Aruvankadu (CFA), a key defence manufacturing unit under Munitions India Limited (MIL) and the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has released Trade Apprentice Recruitment 2026 for 47 posts under the 59th batch of apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 and the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). CFA is one of the oldest and most important defence production units in India, manufacturing propellants and explosives for the armed forces, located in the Nilgiris hills of Tamil Nadu. As of July 2026, applications are invited from ITI-qualified and Class 10 pass candidates for this Tamil Nadu defence job.
Selected CFA Trade Apprentices will undergo structured on-the-job training in chemical plant operations at Cordite Factory, Aruvankadu, Nilgiris District, Tamil Nadu. Vacancies are available across three trades: Attendant Operator Chemical Plant (20 posts), Operator Chemical Plant (20 posts), and Laboratory Assistant Chemical Plant (7 posts, including 1 PwBD HH reserved). There is no written exam — selection is purely merit-based on Class 10 marks (Non-ITI) or average of Class 10 and ITI marks (Ex-ITI), followed by document verification and medical examination at the factory premises.
The CFA Aruvankadu Trade Apprentice 2026 application is through offline mode by post only — no online application facility exists. The last date for applications to physically reach the factory is 31 July 2026. The monthly stipend is ₹8,200 for Non-ITI and ₹9,600 for Ex-ITI candidates under the revised NAPS rates. Completion of apprenticeship results in a National Apprentice Certificate (NAC) but does not guarantee permanent government employment. Download the official notification PDF from ddpdoo.gov.in before applying.
