DRDO CVRDE ITI Apprentice Trainees Recruitment 2026 — 93 Posts, Walk-in 08-09 Sep (Tamil Nadu)

Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), a laboratory of the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has invited applications for 93 ITI Apprentice Trainee posts across 18 trades at its Avadi, Chennai campus. This recruitment is conducted through a Walk-In Interview under the Apprentices Act, 1961, and does not require submitting an application in advance — eligible ITI-qualified candidates can walk in with their documents on 08.09.2026 or 09.09.2026, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Candidates must, however, complete mandatory registration on the NCVT/SCVT MIS portal before attending. Selected apprentices will undergo training across 18 trades, including Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Draughtsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Machinist, Painter, Plumber, Turner, Welder, Electronics Mechanic, Sheet Metal Worker, Computer Networking Technician, Computer & Peripherals Hardware Repair & Maintenance Mechanic, Photographer, Book Binder, CAD-CAM Operator Cum Programmer, and Food Production (General). The vacancy numbers are indicative and may change based on the final assessment of eligible applications received. Stipend ranges from ₹10,560 to ₹11,040 per month depending on trade, with the training duration governed strictly by the Apprentices Act, 1961. No employment is guaranteed to apprentices on completion of their training. The CVRDE walk-in interview is scheduled across two days — 08 September 2026 and 09 September 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai-600054. There is no application fee. Candidates must complete mandatory registration on the NCVT/SCVT MIS portal at ncvtmis.gov.in before attending, and carry all required original documents given the very short notice period for this walk-in.

• ITI Apprentice Trainee: Passed out from an ITI duly recognized by NCVT/SCVT, as per the Gazette Notification of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in a trade of minimum two years' duration — except Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), Painter, Plumber, Welder, and Food Production, which are exempt from this two-year duration requirement. Only candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible; private candidates are not eligible

• Passed out from an ITI duly recognized by NCVT/SCVT, in a trade of minimum two years' duration, except COPA, Painter, Plumber, Welder, and Food Production, which are exempt from this duration requirement
• Only candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible; private candidates are not eligible
• Only candidates who passed the qualifying ITI examination in 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible; candidates who passed earlier than 2023 are not eligible
• Candidates whose results were not declared by 30-08-2026 will not be considered for training, though a provisional certificate is acceptable at the time of joining, with the final NCVT/SCVT certificate to be submitted later
• Expired OBC certificates will not be accepted
• This is an apprenticeship training engagement under the Apprentices Act, 1961; no employment is guaranteed on completion

1. Complete mandatory registration on the NCVT/SCVT MIS portal at ncvtmis.gov.in and note the registration number
2. Report to the CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai-600054 venue on 08 September 2026 or 09 September 2026, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM
3. Carry all required original documents along with photocopies for verification, including the NCVT/SCVT registration number
4. Candidates will be shortlisted on the spot based on ITI marks and interviewed the same day
5. Candidates will be informed of their selection status on the spot, and selected candidates will receive their joining letter immediately
6. Carry 10th or 12th mark sheet and certificate
7. Carry ITI mark sheets and NCVT/SCVT certificate
8. Carry caste certificate, if applicable
9. Carry Aadhaar Card
10. Produce a valid police verification certificate at the time of joining, from your place of last residence or permanent address
