Overview
Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a Mini Ratna subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, has released notification for 259 Mining Sirdar and Surveyor (T&S Grade-C) posts. NCL operates opencast and underground coal mines in Singrauli district (Madhya Pradesh) and Sonbhadra district (Uttar Pradesh). Mining Sirdars supervise underground mining operations, ensure safety compliance, and manage shift operations. Surveyors handle mine surveying, mapping, and measurement activities. Must hold valid DGMS certificates. Selection through Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination.
Qualification
Mining Sirdar: Valid Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency issued by Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS). Surveyor: Valid Mine Surveyor Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS. Both must have passed Matriculation (10th) from a recognized board.

18–30 years as on last date of application; relaxation OBC +3, SC/ST +5, PwBD +10, Ex-SM as per rules
Eligibility
- Mining Sirdar: Valid Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency from DGMS + 10th pass.
- Surveyor: Valid Mine Surveyor Certificate of Competency from DGMS + 10th pass.
- Age 18–30 years (relaxation per Central Govt/Coal India rules).
- Indian citizen.
- Must be physically fit to work in underground mines.
