Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Station (SGTPS), Birsinghpur, operated under Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company Limited (MPPGCL), has released SGTPS Birsinghpur ITI Apprentice Recruitment 2026 under Letter No. 511-0100/SE(TRG)/ITI-APPR/2026-27/212 dated 20 August 2026, for 95 ITI Apprentice training seats across 7 trades. This apprenticeship opportunity is open to NCVT/SCVT ITI-passed candidates who are domicile residents of Madhya Pradesh, and forms part of MPPGCL's ongoing skill-training drive under the Apprentices Act, 1961 at its Birsinghpur thermal power plant in Umaria district. Candidates should note this is a training opportunity and not a job offer; MPPGCL is not obligated to provide employment after the apprenticeship concludes. - Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA): ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in COPA trade from a recognised Industrial Training Institute
- Fitter: ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in Fitter trade from a recognised Industrial Training Institute
- Turner: ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in Turner trade from a recognised Industrial Training Institute
- Instrument Mechanic: ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in Instrument Mechanic trade from a recognised Industrial Training Institute
- Electronics Mechanic: ITI certificate (NCVT/SCVT) in Electronics Mechanic trade from a recognised Industrial Training Institute
- Note: Candidates must be domicile/original residents of Madhya Pradesh, must not have been previously registered for apprenticeship anywhere or worked in any institution for 1 year or more, and may apply for only one trade
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 18 years (all categories)
- General category maximum: 25 years
- SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30 years (5 years relaxation)
- Divyang (PwD): 35 years (10 years relaxation)
- Age is reckoned as on 1 January 2026 for all categories
Eligibility
- Candidate must have passed ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in the relevant trade from a Government/private recognised Industrial Training Institute
- Candidate must not have been previously registered for apprenticeship in any establishment, nor worked in any institution for 1 year or more
- Candidate must be a domicile/original resident of Madhya Pradesh; preference given to residents of Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Katni and Jabalpur districts
- Candidate may apply for only one trade; applying for more than one trade may lead to rejection of the application
- Registration on the Government of India Apprenticeship Portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) is mandatory before applying
- Age: 18 to 25 years for General category as on 1 January 2026, with 5 years relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL and 10 years for Divyang (PwD) candidates
- Reservation for Divyang (PwD) candidates, at 40% or more disability, applies horizontally in all categories only within the Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) trade; other trades follow state reservation rules except hazardous trades
- This is a 1-year apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 — it is contractual training, not a permanent job, and MPPGCL is not obligated to offer employment after completion

How to Apply
- Visit apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and click "Register/Candidate", then select "Register As Candidate"
- Fill Personal Details including Aadhaar number, category, name, parent's name, date of birth, and gender
- Fill Contact Details including address, mobile number, email ID, and password
- Fill the Qualification section with your technical and academic details, and upload the relevant certificates
- In the Preference section, select your preferred trade and click Continue after uploading photograph, date-of-birth proof, and scanned signature
- Review the preview of your registration, edit if needed, and click Confirm to complete portal registration
- Log in to the portal, go to "Establishment Search", select "SANJAY GANDHI THERMAL POWER STATION BIRSINGHPUR", and apply for your eligible trade before 21 September 2026, 11:59 PM
- Separately, download and fill the offline application in the prescribed format available on mppgcl.mp.gov.in
- Send the completed offline application to the Office of the Superintending Engineer (Training), SGTPS, MPPGCL, Birsinghpur, District Umaria, Pin 484551 (MP), so that it is received by 5:30 PM on 21 September 2026
