CRPF Constable Tradesman Selection Process 2026

The recruitment follows a multi-stage process in this order:

1. Physical Standard Test (PST)
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — race, qualifying in nature
3. Computer Based Test (CBT)
4. Trade Test
5. Document Verification
6. Medical Examination

Final merit is prepared based only on CBT marks, but candidates must clear every earlier stage to remain in contention.

CRPF Constable Tradesman CBT Exam Pattern 2026

The written exam is a computer-based, objective multiple-choice test conducted in English and Hindi, set at Matriculation (10th standard) level.

• Duration: 2 hours
• Marking: -0.25 for each wrong answer
• Calculators and other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the exam hall

Subject-Wise Syllabus

General Intelligence & Reasoning

• Analogies, similarities and differences
• Spatial visualisation, problem-solving, analysis
• Non-verbal series, coding-decoding

General Knowledge

• Current events, Indian history, geography
• Indian polity, economy, and general science
• Sports and important national/international events

Elementary Mathematics

• Number systems, simplification, percentage
• Ratio and proportion, time and work
• Basic mensuration and data interpretation

English / Hindi

• Grammar and sentence structure
• Vocabulary and comprehension
• Common errors and fill-in-the-blanks

Physical Standards (PET/PST)

• PST checks height, chest, and weight standards for male and female candidates, with relaxation for reserved categories
• PET is a qualifying race that must be completed within the prescribed time limit for the applied post
• Candidates who do not meet the PST/PET standards are not permitted to appear for the CBT

Trade Test

Candidates applying for technical trades (Driver, Cook, Carpenter, Electrician, Mason, and similar posts) must clear a hands-on Trade Test after the CBT.

• Nature: practical demonstration of trade-specific skills
• Qualifying marks: minimum 20 out of 50
• The Trade Test is strictly qualifying — marks are not added to the final merit list, but failing it disqualifies the candidate regardless of CBT score

• Prioritise accuracy over speed given the 0.25 negative marking — unattempted questions cost nothing, wrong ones do
• Build a daily current affairs habit, since General Knowledge carries a quarter of the total weightage
• Practice trade-specific skills alongside written preparation; many candidates clear the CBT comfortably but lose out at the Trade Test stage from lack of hands-on practice
• Start PET training early — the race is qualifying only, but missing the time cutoff eliminates an otherwise strong candidate instantly
