Indian Navy Agniveer SSR & MR Syllabus 2026: Subject-Wise Topics & Exam Pattern

The Indian Navy releases separate syllabi for Agniveer SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit) and Agniveer MR (Matric Recruit) along with each recruitment notification. Both exams are computer-based and test candidates on subjects aligned to their qualifying education level — 10+2 for SSR and 10th standard for MR. Understanding the exact syllabus and marking scheme early is the single biggest factor separating candidates who clear the written stage from those who don't.

Selection Process After the Written Exam

Both SSR and MR follow the same broad selection path once the written exam is cleared:

  1. Physical Fitness Test (PFT) — 1.6 km run within the prescribed time, squats and push-ups
  2. Document verification
  3. Medical examination

The PFT is qualifying in nature; no marks are awarded, but failing to meet the time and repetition standards disqualifies a candidate regardless of written exam score.

Preparation Tips

  • Since accuracy directly affects your score due to the 0.25 negative marking, avoid guessing on questions you're unsure of
  • Focus daily current affairs revision for the General Awareness section, which carries equal weight to the technical sections
  • Practice previous year question papers to get used to the 60-minute (SSR) or 30-minute (MR) time pressure
  • Combine written preparation with regular PFT practice — many candidates who clear the CBT are eliminated at the physical stage due to lack of preparation
